On one hand, all signs point to the fact that the U.S. is actively involved in a trade way. On the other hand, I have fashion guru Larry Kudlow telling me we’re just involved in a trade “family disagreement“, but it really feels like one of those disagreements where Dad is gonna tell Mom he shouldn’t have bought her that jewelry, and she’ll reply by telling him that he’s a failure and underachieved despite his family history of success. Then they’ll do that thing where he sleeps on the couch and eventually goes to a hotel for a few days.
I know these kinds of disagreements are more normal in most households. Or at least I think so? Please don’t get a divorce Mom and Dad.
And then there’s this whole Twitter debacle. I thought it looked like a pretty normal tweet at first, but it turns out the president isn’t supposed to manipulate markets through twitter?
Are you guys sure that Barry O never did anything like this? Because if not, he definitely missed on an incredible opportunity to do some market manipulating and inside trading.
Actually, I think I’m starting to figure it out. So, we had our trade family disagreement yesterday, and the market got a little skittish over rising prices, but Trump knows that there’s no reason for these tariffs to worry anyone. So what better way to give the market and early morning boosts by frontrunning the employment report on Twitter? Trump isn’t trying to save face and correct his mistakes, he’s just trying to give the American people a little confidence in the markets, which begs the question.
This is normal, right?
